When using the lamps remember that you are dealing with electricity; therefore, you should exercise caution. To protect the lampshade from getting burnt ensure that the lampshade is a good distance from the light bulb. Also, ensure that the switch isn't in contact with the bulb. The shape of the lamp is of great importance. For a great look ensure that the shape compliments the look of your house.
A lamp for the dining room can be from 20 to 36 inches in height. Choose a lamp that is just the right height so it would not shine straightly on the diner's eyes. Place a lamp with slim base in the dining room so it will take only less space and leave enough room for food platters, tableware stacks and other stuffs. To provide a romantic glow in the room, you can use a lamp with metallic gold or nickel interior and opaque shade. Bulbs to be used in dining rooms are below 60 Watts; bulbs with silver tips can effectively reduce glare.
Colour choices in lampshades will depend on personal preference, the lamp style and colour, and the decor in the room. Multi-coloured or hand painted lamps should be paired with a muted or single colour shade. For single colour lamps, shades can range from complementary colours to crazy prints.
If the room has table surfaces that are sufficiently large, the table lamp may be the best choice. Of course, the lamp should not block a view - so coffee tables are typically not the best surface choice. In areas where the horizontal surfaces are narrow such as a buffet table, then the smaller buffet table lamps are usually the best. A narrow and tall lamp such as a candlestick lamp, works well on a narrow surfaces.
